SURFDRY is a durable and reliable wetsuit-drying device that has been engineered and rigorously tested in real-world surf, dive, and travel conditions.

If you’re experiencing problems with your SURFDRY Original, use this guide to quickly diagnose and solve the most common issues.

SURFDRY Fan and USB Ports

USB Battery Brick Compatibility (IMPORTANT)

SURFDRY includes a plug attachment for any standard wall outlet, but many users prefer powering it with a portable USB battery brick.

Recommended Power Setup

  • Use USB-C ports only

SURFDRY units are designed to work with USB-C ports on USB battery bricks.

  • Possible issues with USB-A ports

USB-A batteries often shut off automatically because SURFDRY draws extremely low power. The battery may not detect the small load and will cut power after a few minutes.

Why Some USB-C Batteries Still Don’t Work

Not all USB-C batteries conform to proper USB-C specifications. Power banks that auto-shutoff with low-draw devices may:

  • Turn off after a few minutes

  • Not power the fans at all

  • Work intermittently

From our testing, about 90% of USB-C battery bricks are fully compatible. If yours shuts off, try a different brand or model.

Fans Not Running?
(Step-by-Step Troubleshooting)

SURFDRY fans are intentionally quiet, so make sure to listen in a quiet space and visually check the fan blades before assuming they are off. If you confirm they are not spinning, follow these steps in order:

Step 1 — Confirm USB-C Cable Is Fully Seated

SURFDRY requires a firm connection. Push the USB-C cable fully into both ends (battery/wall adapter and SURFDRY unit).

If fans still aren’t running → go to Step 2.

Step 2 — Test a Different Power Source

Plug the non-spinning SURFDRY unit directly into a different USB-C power source, using a USB-C cable at both ends.

  • If the fan spins → your power source is the issue.

  • Replace the battery brick or wall plug.

If fans still aren’t running → go to Step 3.

Step 3 — Try a Different USB-C Cable

Swap the USB-C cable for another one.

  • If the fan spins → the original cable was faulty.

If fans still aren’t running → go to Step 4.

Step 4 — Test Both SURFDRY USB-C Ports

Plug your power source into the other USB-C port on your SURFDRY.

  • If only one port works → contact SURFDRY support.

  • If neither port works → go to Step 5.

Step 5 — Contact SURFDRY Support

If you’ve tested:

  • multiple power sources

  • multiple USB-C cables

  • both SURFDRY ports

…and the fan still does not spin, please contact us for support or warranty replacement.
